In 2006, there was a project to create a Korean style garden based on the design of landscape architect Jung Youngsun and architect Kim Bong-ryol at Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden (LACA). In order to financially help the Korean Garden in Los Angeles project, I held a solo exhibition titled in 2007. I created hexagonal tiles which symbolized traditional Korean pavilion made of celadon and cinnabar, as well as teacups the size of an espresso cup decorated with lotus flowers and grapes (symbols of Buddhism and Christianity). The color of jade and the red color of cinnabar respectively represent the Korean traditional Celadon and Dancheong of temples, a traditional type of colored painting on wooden buildings and artifacts in Korea. For over ten years, many individuals have raised fund to carry the project forward. Yet, due to the insufficient funding, Korean garden with a design based on the concept of Yun Seondo's Ouga, meaning five friends could not established. is the title of an artwork made of mother-of-pearl yearning. The artist yarns that it would offer national prides to the second and third generations of immigrants who are living in the multiracial, multicultural American society.
